Discussion Forums I.

The first session will take place from 1:00 to 2:30 PM.

Interdisciplinary Communication (in Czech)

Room: A125

Research that spans multiple fields often brings challenges stemming from differences in methodology, argumentation, terminology, and overall research approaches. Communication can therefore become one of the obstacles in such collaborations. Our discussion forum will focus on how to overcome communication barriers in interdisciplinary work. You’ll hear concrete examples from practice and learn about strategies that help researchers from different disciplines find common ground. Join us for inspiring presentations and group brainstorming and gain ideas for more effective collaboration across fields.

Fireside Chat: SciComm in Times of Polycrisis (in English)

Room: C123

In an age of polycrisis — a time marked by overlapping scientific, social, and political pressures — science communication faces unprecedented complexity. In this informal conversation with Christina Beck, we’ll explore how one of the world’s most respected research organizations builds trust, coherence, and resilience in its communication efforts. Christina will explain how the Max Planck Society addresses disinformation and polarization, and she’ll share insights on supporting researchers while strengthening institutional reputation. This session is designed primarily for communication professionals — but will be equally valuable for research leaders — offering practical guidance on how research organizations can communicate science in turbulent times.

The conversation will be led by:

  • Christina Beck – Head of Communications, Max Planck Society
  • Karolína Pštross – PhD Candidate, Institute of Communication Studies and Journalism, FSV UK
